Every famous athlete, every famous performer has somebody who’s a coach.

“Every famous athlete, every famous performer has somebody who’s a coach. Somebody who can watch what they’re doing and say, “Is that what you really meant? Did you really do that?” They can give them perspective. The one thing people are never good at is seeing themselves as others see them. A coach really, really helps.” – Eric Schmidt, former CEO, Google

Hey, Superstar,

Here’s something that perked my ears up the other day. A client of mine told me she recommended me to a friend of hers, to which her friend answered: “me? Why would I need coaching?”

See, her friend assumed that she was gently recommending her beloved coach because something was WRONG, or needed fixing. That’s a completely off assumption. Coaching is not therapy – and executive coaching, in particular, helps ALREADY SUCCESSFUL people become even more successful, as well as clear, focused, unshakeable, and FREE.

This may be a redundant question if you’ve been here a while, but here’s a question still worth answering, in case some of you feel the way that friend of a client felt:

How is coaching different – and why is it so important?

There are many reasons why coaching is important, not only for life, but especially – for leadership.

Whether your business hit a plateau or you’re looking for ways to align your team, leadership coaching turbocharges what is right, and pivots what is meandering. Coaching is a maximizer and an optimizer.

Below, we’ll explore why you leaders, you SUPERSTARS, need coaching, what the benefits are of our Corner Office Coaching and CEO / founder coaching tracks, what to look for in a coach – and more.

What are the BENEFITS of executive coaching?

1. Executive Coaches Provide new insights (that I am sorry to tell you, you would have neither seen nor thought of yourself).

Just because you’re the leader doesn’t mean you hold all of the answers, and in fact – because you can be busy and in the trenches – you will MISS many answers, too.

No one can know everything about a certain topic or industry, especially in today’s day and age, and most people are completely blind to the world of spirituality and personal growth.

Working with an executive or CEO coach, like me, can provide new insights and perspectives to help you think outside of the box and understand a topic more holistically. Drawing on the experiences of others, especially a coach who, like me- has been in your position or IS in your position (which, as a 7 figure entrepreneur running a team of 5, I AM), can help you make more informed decisions and lasting changes.

2. Improve self-awareness

To me, this is our killer app. Coaching helps you truly gain self awareness. Though most people think they ARE aware, according to HBR, it’s something like 15%, and as a coach who assesses and works with hundreds of people each year, I think that number is actually ambitious. In fact, the MORE someone feels they are self aware, the less likely they are to be so (and if you are extremely resistant to this statement, you will do very well to check yourself with a coach and peer mastermind group; you will love what you discover).

Self-awareness is the ability to analyze our thoughts, beliefs, and emotions by drawing on our experiences and life history to evaluate ourselves and understand where we’re coming from. However, having and maintaining self-awareness can be challenging, especially with our preconceived biases standing in our way.

Executive coaching can help you develop a stronger concept of your self and develop true emotional intelligence. A seasoned coach like me and my senior coaching team will be able to teach you the critical thinking skills necessary to better understand yourself. This means knowing how to listen to others and understand how they perceive you, as well as learning how to accept someone else’s viewpoints and developing empathy.

One of the reasons why executive coaching is important is because it can help you become a better team player and far more inspiring leader. Being more self-aware allows you to connect deeper with your colleagues and team to work together to reach a common goal, and to have far, far greater influence not only in your team – but as a recognized expert and thought-leader. And who doesn’t want THAT?

3. Coaching helps fine-tune interpersonal communication

Communication is key in any professional role, especially as an executive. Being a leader means communicating with others in a variety of positions, such as industry leaders, employees, and investors. Poor communication can be the reason your business is standing still. An executive coach will teach you skills and best practices to become a better communicator.

How does this look in practice? An executive coach will teach you about the different types of personalities you’ll encounter on a day-to-day basis and provide examples on how to best communicate with each type of person. They’ll also help you define your own communication style, so you can understand how to best navigate various situations, such as dealing with a toxic employee or presenting at a conference. It also means they’ll help you set realistic expectations, build your nonverbal communication, and provide feedback to help you grow. And, through our extensive assessments and robust assessment accreditations, we will help you cross the chasms of communications in ALL departments. Yes, even at home.

4. Support, Accountability and better management of emotions and time

Do I even need to say anything here? Didn’t think so. This is the #1 reason any superstar hires a coach, period. This includes goal setting: A key component of executive coaching is setting goals… and getting them done!

5. Coaching helps you build not only confidence, but self worth and compassion

When you walk into a room, you want pple to believe in you as a leader. Without authentic power – which is to love and respect yourself and know your worth, and without true compassion and empathy – you will continually miss the mark, and if you’re lacking this trait, it will show AND run the show.

BECAUSE we focus so heavily on the development of self worth and compassion, executive coaching will empower you to perform your best in both your personal and professional life.

What are the RESULTS of executive coaching?

What to look for in a coach?

After learning about why coaching is important in leadership and the benefits of CEO leadership coaching, you may be wondering how to find an executive coach that works for you.

Before signing on with the first coach you meet, consider these factors when looking for a coach:

Experience: Being a leader is like being part of an exclusive club—there aren’t many people who’ve been in the same position as you. With that said, it’s important to look for an executive coach who’s been in a leadership role, whether they were a CEO or some other sort of high-level executive, are a founder, etc.

This is important because they can draw on their own experiences and apply what they’ve learned in their role to your current position. By working with someone who’s been in the same boat as you, you’ll learn about management, collaboration, and leadership firsthand.

We are ALL former executives, and again – I run a million dollar + entrepreneur operation here, and STILL coach you myself, with individual and personal attention. There really is no hokum here. We are the most white glove, and always will be.

Confidentiality: As an executive, you hold a wide range of crucial responsibilities, such as pitching to investors and working with stakeholders. If you work with a leadership coach who’s sharing information discussed during your meetings with HR or other members of the organization, your image and reputation can be tarnished. When looking for an executive coach, ensure all information shared is confidential. WE ARE ALL ICF coaches here, and abide by not only our gold standard accreditation, but the strongest of our ethical code components: what happens in coaching stays in coaching.

Proven Results: Executive coaches should provide data on their own success with other executives. You want to ensure that you’re working with a coach with proven results who can help you improve your personal and professional life. For this, look no further than our success stories or massive rosster of bluechip corporate clients.

Rapport: When investing in your career and personal life, you want to ensure you’re getting the most out of your investment by working not only with someone you respect, but someone you like and trust. By looking for these qualities in an executive coach, you can have peace of mind knowing your program will yield your results. Our top values are kindness and service: we are 100% here for YOUR rise, and are on YOUR TEAM. If that sounds cool to you, we would be thrilled to have you here. So….
